About Sarah's House


 
The Director and Her Team
 

Sheila is the Director of Sarah's House.

Sheila King born in Windsor, England, worked for the British Army Families Office in Munster, Germany for 4 years, also worked front line in Social Services in the South West of England for 7 years then ran her own businesses before working for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as PA to Management and with a TV News Crew before moving to Kingman where she became involved with Sarah's House 6 years ago and appointed director. She started the Foundation, raised $300k and built  up the Sexual Assault Program, recruited SANE nurses and trained Victims Advocates. Sheila has obtained an honours degree from the University of Texas as a Victims Advocate and previously had obtained a Certificate in Sociology and Communications at Bristol University in England. She also has a number of other qualifications in the US related to sexual abuse etc.

She is supported by SANE nurses (see below) and  trained volunteer advocates

 
 
Kim Gilbert - Domestic Violence Counselor

Early 2007 Kim became a volunteer Victim's Advocate for Sarah's House, responding to the 911 crisis calls. After a 23 year career in the banking and finance industry, she chose to pursue a new career path, working with these victims full time. She is currently working as the Domestic Violence Counselor with Sarah's House, along with continuing her education towards a victim advocacy degree. She has had the opportunity to travel across the country with her husband, finally establishing permanent residency in Kingman, Arizona in July 1999 when her husband retired after a 20 year career in the US Marine Corps.

 
 
Darlene Bellmore - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

Darlene Bellmore was born in Nelsonville, Ohio and moved to Kingman at age 7. She currently works full time at KRMC Hospice. She became an LPN in 1974 then graduated  from Mohave Community College in 1981 after being accepted in the first RN Program. Darlene has worked at Kingman Regional Medical Center since graduation. She has worked in a wide variety of medical/nursing care from ER to ICU. In 1986 she was involved in the opening of the KRMC Cancer Clinic. In 2000 Darlene took a course in Legal Nurse Consulting, subsequently passing the National Certification for LNC. She was accepted into the first Forensic Nursing Program offered by the County Attorney's office and has been an on call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Sarah's House ever since.

 
 
Elaine Fowler - Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner

Elaine Fowler has been a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Sarah's House since it opened in 2000. She works in the ICU Department of Kingman Regional Medical Center.
Elaine lives in Kingman with husband Julian, they have six children.
She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse from Arkansas since 1979, and holds the qualifications of Associate of Applied Science of Nursing from Arakansas State University 1983, Advanced Cardiac Life Support 1984, Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse 1994, Bachelor of Science University of Phoenix 2006 and is currently attending the University of Phoenix to become Family Nurse Practitioner graduating in 2008.
